Ive been slacking on posting on here, and miss Alissa said that I better get on it, so this ones for you:) I spent my first Christmas away from home in California. Sure was weird to have no snow and 70 degree weather. I enjoyed it tho with my new family here. Thankyou mom for keeping in touch with your high school friends, and to Bonnie and her family for taking me in all the time! I'm getting ready to head to Virginia to see my mother and sisters on Tuesday in their new Virginia house!! Can't wait to see them! Also helping my best friend Michelle get ready for her wedding in august!!:) super excited for them!! Right now I'm outside in shorts on new years eve! Never thought it could be so warm anywhere this time of year!! last night I got to see two of the girls I knew back in Florida who recently got stationed in Cali! Super fun to see them again!! Gonna miss all the new years kyds up north this year! hope everyone has a safe and happy new yeAr!!

Moving out of the barracks to a house today :D yay!  I'll be able to cook again! And have more than a 2x2 box to live in! I'm going to have another address, but I can still get mail at the address I have right now. Not too fun going to work after a long weekend. Time off really felt good tho! :) Went to a Tim McGraw concert last night. Military got in free! One of the perks:) packing up. xo

Happy Birthday Marine Corps

The Marine Corps has been around for 256 years. Here its a big thing and all the units have a birthday celebration. Dinner and stuff and we all wear our dress uniforms :) today everyone was saying happy birthhday to each other. kinda cool:) We have some extra days off too, for the veterans day holiday! Yay! Get some highly needed relaxing done:) Hope everyones doing good!

So much to take in..

So it's been a crazy weekend. One thing after the next has been happening lately. Car troubles have become the least of my worries. YesterdAy I bought a breAst cancer awareness necklace and bracelet in support of my grandmas fighting, and for everyone else out there fighting it! Praying thAt gramma Betty's surgery goes good Tuesday. Praying for the wakeham family who lost Jeanette. Such a sweet girl. I feel lucky to have had the chance to meet her. And praying for my brothers and sisters in the marine corps. Have come to find that overseas isn't the only dangerous place to be. Two of my MC brothers have died here in the states. One last night Sometimes having fun turns bad. Nobody could have guessed this would happen. I have leArned that we have to be strong for the people that are worse than us. Support is what people need most. I'm fortunate to have so many people that have my back. Love you guys!:)

Woke up at seven today. Instantly questioned why I was up so early on a saturday! I guess that is sleeping in when I wake up at 5 on the usual weekday. Went to breakfast at the chowhall by myself. Most people were sleeping still. Had a yummy omelete, grape juice, and coffee. Came back into my room after and found my roommate sound asleep listening to the same song on repeat. I now know the song word for word. HAHA. Eventually she woke up and turned it off. Talked to my big brother matt on the phone last night! Back in the states! SO proud of him! :)   Plans for a girls day today with Sheena and Alyssa:) And Dorthea comes back from leave today:D She got to see her man that just graduated boot camp yesterday! Can't believe its been a year since I was graduating bootcamp! Time flys! Hope you all are having a good weekend!:)

wow its been a minute!

Hello everyone! I haven't posted on here in quite awhile. I was lacking computer internet access for awhile. Kinda hard to write a lot on just my phone. haha. I am at my new squadron. Pretty sure I haven't posted about it at all. I've been here since September 6th! Its tough, not training anymore. Its a job now, with the military lifestyle mixed in. Being the new guy on the jobs stinks, but thats part of it. We have to earn respect from the other people of higher rank that work there! It's stressfull, 10-12 hour days. I am always ready to crash in bed by the end of the day!! I also have car trouble on top of that. Stupid vehicles. Just like cars, our helicopters have things that need to get fixed everyday! I'd have to say it's pretty cool when we get to be right out there with the turning birds tho. (helicopters that are preparing for takeoff) We get to be out there when they are going out, coming in. Etc. I remember back home, when like once every 2 years we'd see a helicopter go by and be all amazed. Now, just in my squadron we have about 20 of them, and they are coming in and going out all day! :) I'm not sure that I am going to make it home for the holidays, because of the costs of car repairs. Cross my fingers tho! Missing everyone, and the good old UP!! :)

it pIt's wednesday afternoon, or for all you yoopers, wednesday night;) Done with classes for the day, in our last unit of things to learn before they send us to our units! Of course  mine is only a 1/2 mile down the road! lol. Only a little more than a week till I am done in the schoolhouse! Our days seem super long, and the last hour of the day the longest of all of them! I guess thats how things usually go! We had a long run through the hills this morning! It was super foggy out, so it put kind of a cool look on everything! Not that it made the run enjoyable or anything. We were all pretty broke off by the end of it! And it's looking like today isn't over for me yet, still have duty to do tonight!! Hopefully it's not too long of a night!! This is where I envy those of you who get off work, and are done for the night! Not fun to have duty once a week and one weekend a month, and field day (clean the barracks for 2 hours) every thursday night! Definetly wish I could be back home working a normal job sometimes!! But I'm done with a year so far "only" four more to go! :) Hope everyone is having an aweseme day!! :)

been awhile..oops

So, it's been awhile since I've posted anything up. Been busy, and trying to scavenge other peoples internet in the barracks. haha. We've been doing tons of running here! Pretty sure longer runs than I've ever done in my life. 7.5, 6.5, you name it. And it's through the mountains!! Only improving myself tho right? I was checking the mail the other day, and I happened to get a letter and pictures from some girls that told me how much they love my blog. I felt horrible since its been so long since I've updated it. So a shout out to the Alissa, Kirsten, Laura, and family--I appreciated getting your mail and pictures so much!! :) Made my day! Its hard to be so far, and getting mail like that is so aweseme!! :):):)

Since the last time I've been on here, I've taken a short three day trip home, gone to San Diego, and stayed with Chris and Bonnie+family, and took a stab at SURFING!! :):):) super fun! Since I kind of missed out on snowboarding this year, I think I got my fix when I went! :) Tried a California burrito, (it has french fries in it) Actually pretty good :)

I'm settling in pretty good here. Have to say I like it here better than florida! Not sure how I managed with the humidity there for so long! Its nice and dry here! Hopefully get to the beach this weekend if the weather holds up! Hope everyone is having a good June Tenth:)

new town new home. happy mothers day!

Finally settled in my new room in the barracks at Camp Pendelton, California. Last weekend had a suprise visit from Isaac, and then the girls were down too:) Left on tuesday to come here. Spent a night with my mom's high school friend Bonnie, and her family.:) Got myself a second home now in San Diego when I want to get away from the military life, which is often. lol. Got a new roommate, a troll from lower michigan. :) One of the few people I've met in the Marine Corps that has actually been to the UP though:) She was in my sister platoon at bootcamp, so I did know her before I came here. Definetly a different atmosphere here. No humidity, there is mountains, and ocean, and :| RATTLESNAKES!! :\ not a fan!! lol. Here we will actually get to do hands on work on the helicopters! Can't wait for that! Starting class next friday! Hopefully things go good here! So far its been aweseme!!! :) Happy Mother's Day!! Everything you do is appreciated more than anyone will ever know!! :) xo

Almost the weekend!!

Actually got to sleep in until 6 this morning! Felt very nice! I know six doesn't sound very much like sleeping in, but compared to 430 or 445, it was nice!! We took our second to last test today! Only one more to go before graduating on Tuesday!! :) Can't wait for the weekend, when my sister and Michelle, Heidi, Julie, and Karen come down here!!! Should be aweseme!!! !:)

Another long day today! Long day in class. Water still contaminated here...they've been distributing us water bottles. Eight per person per day. Not too much time for much today! Goodnite!

it was a long day!!!

started out my morning at 0530. Got dressed and was out the door at 0545 to be in class by 0600. We had to do some checking out in supply at headquarters, and turning in security clearance forms. I felt like I was rushing all morning! Had our room inspections. We got an outstanding (or no hits) :) I guess we have learned how to clean pretty good, and know what to expect since we have been here since December! Last room inspect here :) Besides the one when we check out next week. Passed my test in class today! 2 more to go!:) long day ahead of me tomorrow. Class at 0530. goodnite :]

contamination...

So...apparently our water in all tap water sources is contaminated. So reassuring that I have been drinking it all day! Hopefully I don't get sick!! Not sure exactly what is wrong with it, but we were told not to drink it until further notice. So of course after school today I went to the NEX (Navy Exchange) (since I currently live on a navy base) and bought a bunch of bottled water. Sure could go for some good UP well water right about now!! :)

Other than the water scare, I donated blood today. Hopefully I don't have contaminants in that now too!! The Air Force was running a blood drive at the schoolhouse today, so I let them stick me with a needle and bag up a pint of my blood. :) Gotta clean my room tonight real good for room inspections tomorrow! I guess the Colonel and Sgt Major are gonna be here!! Not an everyday thing that they decide to look in our barracks!! About to go sleep, getting late, gotta wake up early in the morning! Goodnite!:)

Woke up this morning at 0445. Bright and early for some PT. Showered after and got some good chow hall breakfast. Scrambled eggs, biscuit and gravy, and hashbrowns. Oh, don't forget the coffee :) We've got extra time before class starts today, because the Navy has a brief about something. Forming up at 0845, unlike our usual 0745. Starting to get my stuff packed up, adn junk filtered out before I leave for California! Moving is always a struggle. Packing is the worst! I've got my Unit 5 test today. Hopefully that goes good. Everything is just another schematic. We just have to find out whats wrong with it! We also do lab work. Simulated aircrafts, that we test, troubleshoot, and list the faults out, so that the 'really' smart people can fix it! haha. :) Hopefully it's a good day and I don't get too sleepy in class!

first ever

So..I've never done the whole blogging thing before, but I thought it would be fun for you guys back home to take a look into what it's like being in my 'boots'. We'll see if I am good at keeping up with it day to day. Hope you like it :)

Today is Easter Sunday. First time I haven't been home for Easter. Probably won't be the last. Third duty section this weekend. Duty section=keeping the barracks clean and SAFE as Ssgt would say. lol.  Formation this morning at 1030. We got ready for Lcpl's baby shower in our hangout room :) That went good! Her and her husband are excited! Less than 2 months left! Then we made use of the nice grills we have outside and cooked some hotdogs and hamburgers. And of course a cookout isn't complete without some beach volleyball!!! Rest of the day, relax before its off to school again tomorrow. Last full week here in Pensacola!! Maybe I'll start the packing. I usually love to procrastinate. haha. Moving to california in 9 days!! Never settle down too comfortably in the military!
